VirtuaWrapper is a clientless application virtualization technology; this means you can take a Windows application, package it and run it on a machine without the need for elevated privliges or installation.
Wraptor Remote is a product based on VirtuaWrapper which uses application virtualization to fix a specific problem that organizations and admins encounter when deploying remote access:
- Deploying remote access software (Active-X and Java components)
- Mitigating risk of data loss from cache clean-up
- Reducing support issues by not creating a client footprint on the remote machine
How it works
The administrator pushes the Wraptor client to portable storage device that Windows can access (e.g. Blackberry, iPod, flash drive, SD card, etc...) and the user launches the Wraptor client or it can be set to autorun when the device is plugged in.
The user enters a password, the Wraptor Client connects to the Wraptor Management Suite to check for configuration changes and updates before launching Internet Explorer (or Firefox as a package) from the local PC within the VirtuaWrapper 'sand box'.
The browser is directed to the URL for the VPN automatically, if an end point scan is required the active-x or java applet is supplied as a package from Wraptor avoiding the need to install it; the user is then signed into the VPN automatically and presented with their applications.
If they are using Citrix the ICA client is provided as a package from Wraptor again avoiding the need for installation.
When the user has finished they simply remove the device and all the Wraptor processes are terminated leaving nothing behind on the PC.
This makes the experience for the user far easier than is normally the case as there is no need to change the browser settings, install software or worry about admin rights.
Wraptor Remote makes remote access work on any device regardless of user rights and ensures there is no cache or client left behind on the machine.
